Effects of Exposure to Environmental Groups on Student Awareness of Environmental Issues and Their Desire to Be Locally Involved
Burke, Ann M.
Applied Environmental Education and Communication, v16 n3 p157-170 2017
This study investigated changes in high school students' awareness of environmental issues and their intent to be involved with local environmental groups after attendance at an environmental fair that exposed them to local environmental groups. A comparison of prefair and postfair surveys given to students indicated a highly significant increase in the intent of students to be involved with local community groups. Students with a high level of awareness about environmental issues before the fair showed no significant change in awareness after fair attendance. A subset of students exhibiting a prefair low level of awareness did show a significant increase.
