Keeping Current. Using BDA Strategies in the Library Media Center
Keller, Cynthia A.
School Library Media Activities Monthly, v22 n1 p55-58 Sep 2005
This article discusses BDA strategies--reading strategies that "good readers" use before, during, and after reading. These strategies are in conjunction with free reading as well as direct reading instruction by reading specialists and/or teachers. An explanation of "Before Reading Strategies," "During Reading Strategies," and "After Reading Strategies" is given, and examples of the ways in which library media specialists can use or model these strategies are provided. Specific steps that the school library media specialist can take to integrate reading strategies into the library program are also suggested.
