Music Listening--Romantic Period (1815-1914), Music: 5635.794.
Pearl, Jesse; Carter, Raymond
This secondary level Quinmester course is designed to teach the principal types of vocal, instrumental, and operatic compositions of the Romantic period through listening to the styles of different composers and acquiring recognition of their works. The course is intended for students who have participated in fine or performing arts and for pupils interested in music history despite a lack of music background. Course objectives in listening and musicianship are listed. Course content is presented in detail as a guide for the instructor, with outlines for five units. Final sections of the guide include resources for students and teachers, assessment techniques, and a suggested listening list to augment specific suggestions made in the unit plans. (JH)
