Guidebook for the California Healthy Kids Survey. Part II: Data Use and Dissemination. 2004-2005 Edition
Austin, G.; Bates, S.; Duerr, M.
WestED (NJ1)
The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is a comprehensive youth health risk and resilience data collection service sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE). This part of the guidebook will assist practitioners in understanding, interpreting, and deriving the maximum benefit from the CHKS results. It provides a basic road map that can lead from the beginning of the "data-use" process (reviewing the report and assessing the data) to the end (using data to make programmatic decisions). It also includes strategies for effectively disseminating the results in compliance with NCLB. The goal of this document is to help local practitioners and policy makers get the most out of the rich data contained within each CHKS report and understand some of the key issues and concepts around data dissemination and use. (Includes 1 appendix.)
