This document contains three issues of "Training Ideas," a bimonthly publication of instructional materials and articles dealing with human resource development. The premiere issue (1984) includes the following articles: "Information Retrieval: Finding That Lost Article" by Patrick Suessmuth; "Increasing Learning in Printed Materials through the Use of Retention Builders," by Patrick Suessmuth and Art Horrox; "Writing Effectiveness Inventory," by R. J. Peterson; "Planned Degradation in Training Design," by Art Horrox; "Lessons and Their Materials: Interpersonal Conflict Resolution Styles," by Patrick Suessmuth; and "Front End or the End," by Art Horrox. A trainer's key word list is also included. Articles in the August-September 1984 issue include "Conflict," by Patrick Suessmuth; "Clean Up Your Act," by Art Horrox; "That Trapped Feeling," by Bob Peterson; "Helping People," by Patrick Suessmuth; "Action Objectives," by Bob Peterson; "Courseware Design Process," by Art Horrox; and "Point of View," by Art Horrox. The first item in the April-May 1985 issue is a learning styles inventory with accompanying lesson plan and administration quidelines developed by Patrick Suessmuth. The next item, "Tips of Training" by Bob Peterson, is a question-and-answer discussion of training techniques. Provided next is a brief article by Patrick Suessmuth entitled "Guidelines for Perceiving Others from Their Perspective." Art Horrox discusses the use of behavioral objectives in computer-assisted instruction (CAI) and provides a practice exercise in an article entitled"CAI--Abbreviated Objectives." The concluding article, "Weighty Books for Trainers" by Patrick Suessmuth and Bill Cumberland, lists recommended books dealing with the following areas of training: administration, communications, course design, evaluation, group dynamics and process, instructional techniques, learning theory, labor force planning, personal and organizational interface, research and development, training equipment and materials, and training needs analysis.
