NISE Network: Overview of the NISE Network Evaluation
St. John, Mark; Helms, Jenifer V.; Castori, Pam; Hirabayashi, Judy; Lopez, Laurie; Phillips, Michelle
Inverness Research
The documents enclosed in this report provide a comprehensive and systematic review of the progress made in developing a network organization capable of supporting nanoscience education for the public on a national scale. There is a logic to the studies that were done and to the reports that are included in this notebook. The following are the dimensions of the network the authors' evaluation addressed: (1) ISE Field and Science Field; (2) Network Hubs and Leaders; and (3) Network Leadership and Administration. At the center and the heart of the network is the network organization with its leadership and administration. This network organization supports a set of "hubs" that connects to the more than one-hundred institutions that form the broader NISE (Nanoscale Informal Science Education) Network membership. And, finally, the entirety of the NISE Network interfaces with the much broader fields of informal science education institutions and science research institutions. The reports that comprise the NISE Network evaluation are: (1) The Development of the NISE Network--A Summary Report; and (2) Supportive Reports: including, (a) Interview Summary with Hub Leaders; (b) Summary of Interviews with Regional Workshop Participants; (c) Vignettes: Stories of Institutions Engaged with NISE Net; (d) Interview Study with Scientists; (e) Reach and Impact Study; and (f) Field Study. Individual documents contain figures, footnotes and appendices. ["NISE Network: Overview of the NISE Network Evaluation" was written with Mary Regan and Laurie Senauke.]
