Simplifying E-Resources Workflows with G Suite for Education
Beis, Christina A.
Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship, v30 n3 p161-163 2018
In this brief article, University of Dayton Discovery Services Librarian Christina Beis describes how she manages the life cycle of electronic resources which includes access, discovery, assessment and problem resolution. Adoption and development of new workflows is essential to the success of this newly created position. Beis describes how she uses the G Suite for Higher Education to meet the needs of her job. The G Suite is a free collection of Google tools, including Docs, Drive, Forms and Sheets that are available on the cloud platform that are user-friendly and meshed well with University of Dayton's current systems. Beis concludes that the ability to easily share and edit documents and spreadsheets collaboratively has been the most rewarding aspect of G Suite. As process documentation becomes increasingly important due to the ever-changing functions of discovery and electronic resources librarians, implementing workflow tools is both practical and necessary.
