This is the ninth volume of the intermediate phase and the last set of lessons in the German Basic Course. The objective of the intermediate phase is mastery of the structural elements of the German language. Accordingly, each lesson contains the following elements: (1) introduction of new structure through "structure perception drills"; (2) a basic dialog dealing with a contemporary life situation; (3) prose narratives followed by questions; (4) variant situational topics for oral expression exercises; (5) an analysis of new structural features, in English; and (6) a glossary of new vocabulary words and idiomatic expressions. A German-English and an English-German glossary covering the entire volume is provided at the end of the volume. Pattern drills on the structures are available on tape. (AMH)
