The Impact of Global Information on Africa.
Thapisa, A. P. N.
Internet Research, v6 n1 p71-78 1996
Developing regions, like Africa, may miss the information revolution because they lack national information infrastructures and the knowledge and skills required to provide relevant content. This article discusses the assumption that all nations will have an information infrastructure, describes "Fidonet," Africa's low-tech alternative to the Internet, and highlights African efforts to develop Internet connectivity.
