The Ethnic Heritage Studies Act Curriculum Materials Guide.
Gentile, Nancy
This directory describes curriculum materials that were created between 1974 and 1980 under Title IX of the federal government's Ethnic Heritage Studies Act. The federal act funded development of curriculum materials that introduced and supported ethnic studies in public school and college curricula. Projects were developed throughout the country and were collected initially by the Social Science Education Consortium at Boulder, Colorado. There were over 2,000 reports, print and audiovisual materials, instruction kits, and scholarly monographs covering more than 65 different ethnic groups in this collection. In 1983 the collection was transferred to the Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies, where it was catalogued and is available to educators on a loan basis. This guide provides an index to the usable contents of this collection. Only 172 projects, for which a final product was produced, have been included. Each project has been given a number. The index is organized alphabetically according to the ethnic group. Appropriate grade levels are indicated. Information concerning "Source"; "Primary Products"; and "Other Products" is given for each project. (MM)
