This handbook, first in a series of guides concerned with major areas of the school curriculum, describes successful practices in the development of school band programs in Texas. Major sections of the book are The Elementary Band Program, The Junior High School Band Program, The Intermediate-Advanced Band Program in the Junior and Senior High School, and The Stage Band. Information provided on each program includes goals and objectives, organization of programs and classes, instructional personnel, teaching methods, selection of students, and bibliographies of band materials including teacher guides, periodicals, books, state-adopted textbooks, audiovisuals, and other supplementary materials.
