Star Schools-Chapter I Funding. The purpose of these hearings was to review the progress in Mississippi of two programs (Star Schools and Chapter 1, both initiated under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act) which use technology in order to provide instructional programs for economically disadvantaged students in rural schools. Included are testimonies of administrators from the Mississippi State Board of Education; the executive director of Mississippi Educational Television; the director of the Star Schools Program for Public Service and Continuing Studies at the University of Mississippi; Chapter 1 coordinators; the presidents of the Mississippi Association of Educators, the Mississippi American Federation of Teachers, and the Mississippi Parents and Teachers Association; and teachers and students from Mississippi schools.
