The U.S. Office of Education is required by law to collect statistics to show the condition and progress of education. Statistics can be made available, on a national scale, to the extent that school administrators, principals, and college officials cooperate on a voluntary basis with the Office of Education in making the facts available. This bulletin presents the statistical summary of education in 1937-38. It contains the following chapters: (1) Statistical summary of education, 1937-38; (2) Statistics of State school systems, 1937-38; (3) Statistics of city school systems, 1937-38; (4) Statistics of higher education, 1937-38; and (5) Statistics of public high schools, 1937-38.
