This article describes how and why the Library 101 Project was created and the lessons that the developers learned out of this project. The Library 101 is a project that challenges librarians to revise the paradigm of "basic" library services in order to remain relevant in this technology-driven world. It was developed by Michael Porter, communications manager at Web-Junction.org and David Lee King, digital branch and services manager at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library. The project has four parts, which include (1) music video; (2) essays; (3) the "101 Resources and Things to Know"; and (4) a Library 101 Facebook page. The goal of the Library 101 Project was to start discussions with librarians and library staff about the future of libraries. In making this happen, Porter and King employed social networking tools and they made use of online tools to market the project. Lessons learned from Library 101 are presented.
