Assessing Aptitude and Attitude Development in a Translation Skills Course
Mekheimer, Mohamed Amin A.
CALICO Journal, v29 n2 p321-340 Jan 2012
This study investigates the effects on EFL students of using Blackboard technology and online dictionaries in developing translating skills and building positive attitudes towards translation in male Saudi college students. The study compares two groups of students in a translation course; one in a traditional, face-to-face setting (control) and the other (experimental) in an online course taught via Blackboard, which incorporated an online dictionary. These groups are compared in terms of their translation skills as well as their attitudes toward the course. The study reveals an improvement in translation skills as well as indicates increased positive attitudes towards translation in the e-learning environments of Blackboard. (Contains 4 tables.)
