Program Evaluation: Two Management-Oriented Samples
Alford, Kenneth Ray
Online Submission
Two Management-Oriented Samples details two examples of the management-oriented approach to program evaluation. Kenneth Alford, a doctorate candidate at the University of the Cumberlands, details two separate program evaluations conducted in his school district and seeks to compare and contrast the two evaluations based upon the characteristics of the management-oriented approach. Examples presented include a Kentucky Department of Education, Office of Accountability and Assessment school-wide evaluation, called a Scholastic Review, conducted in 2002 and an independent district-wide mathematics audit conducted by the firm Andersen, Baldwin, and McWilliam Associates in 2005. Alford describes the audit progress and provides selected audit findings to demonstrate the management-oriented approach. The author also provides a descriptive follow-up to the audit findings. The article concludes with a discussion of how each example is aligned with the Stufflebeam CIPP model. (Contains 3 tables.)
