Men Don't Put on Make-up: Toddlers' Knowledge of the Gender Stereotyping of Household Activities.
Poulin-Dubois, Diane; Serbin, Lisa A.; Eichstedt, Julie A.; Sen, Maya G.; Beissel, Clara F.
Social Development, v11 n2 p166-81 2002
Two experiments examined toddlers' knowledge of the stereotyping of traditionally feminine and masculine household activities. Results suggest that knowledge about stereotyping adult activities starts to develop by the age of 24 months and common household activities are among the first gender-typed activities included in children's developing gender schemas.
