Test Access & Modification for Individuals with Disabilities.

This guide is intended to increase access for individuals with disabilities to local, state (New York), and national testing programs, as well as facilitate the consistent provision of modifications necessary to allow these individuals to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities. Ten modules cover the following topics: (1) federal and state requirements pertaining to test access and modification; (2) tests and examinations administered to students with disabilities; (3) high school equivalency diplomas and general educational development tests; (4) advanced placement programs; (5) preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, SAT I--reasoning test and SAT II--subject tests; (6) American College Testing assessment program; (7) Graduate Record Examinations; (8) Miller Analogies Test; (9) professional licensing examinations; and (10) New York State civil service examinations. Chapters typically describe the measure/s, review eligibility requirements for test modification, describe specific appropriate modifications, and give a source for practice materials. Nine appendices include directories of New York State Education Department offices, further information on the New York competency test program, further information on national tests, and a glossary of abbreviations and terms.
