Bermingham, Jack; Ryan, Margaret
New Directions for Community Colleges, n161 p55-70 Spr 2013
This chapter is a story--from the perspective of a community college president--about one community college and how it transformed itself through the process of comprehensive internationalization within the context of globalization. With a commitment to preparing students to live and work in a global economy and multicultural world, the college designed its strategic plan to emphasize diverse and global perspectives in its curriculum and pedagogy--launching an innovative, organic process that has permeated the organizational structure and campus culture. The story of this community college illustrates a college ahead of its time for its achievement and innovation in comprehensive internationalization. Characterizing globalization as a process and approaching comprehensive internationalization as a strategy made the college an active participant of globalization.
