School Disaffection in Countries of Conflict
Robert Shumer
International Journal on School Disaffection, v3 n1 p6-11 2005
The reasons why students stay away from school are varied and complex. They are even more complicated in countries where conflict and warfare make the educational and social environments more treacherous and unpredictable for young people and adults. This article examines the conditions surrounding school attendance in Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and Iraq, attempting to describe the current state of schooling and the impact of warfare on the children and youth.
