Another Perspective: Struggling toward Wholeness in Music Education
Reimer, Bennett
Music Educators Journal, v99 n2 p25-29 Dec 2012
Ambitious ideals are seldom achieved completely. Realistically, the criterion of success is not so much full accomplishment as satisfactory progress. The author urges music educators to pause now and then to consider their status in this regard. Are they moving ahead to fulfillment of their hopes in ways adequate to their compelling vision? Events over the past several years yield a tentative yet positive outlook. In many ways, one can be impressed with the energy, the imagination, and the courage being demonstrated by new initiatives people are now witnessing. A critical mass now might be leading educators toward achieving a more complete and variegated professional posture. In this article, the author talks about the struggle toward wholeness in music education and discusses issues that need to be accomplished to achieve the expanded vision of music education.
