An Ego-Strengthening Approach with Multiply Traumatized Children: Special Reference to the Sexually Abused
Crenshaw, David A.; Mordock, John B.
Residential Treatment for Children & Youth, v21 n3 p1-18 2004
Seven basic tasks are presented that must be accomplished for successful residential treatment of multiply abused children, and methods are described to achieve each task. The tasks are: empowering the children, respecting their need for privacy, helping them to feel safe and creating "safety nets" for them, building and supporting their defenses, facilitating basic skill development, building self-esteem, and assisting them with trauma reenactment.
