Making Technology Work for Campus Security
Floreno, Jeff; Keil, Brad
Campus Law Enforcement Journal, v40 n1 p29-31 Jan-Feb 2010
The challenges associated with securing schools from both on- and off-campus threats create constant pressure for law enforcement, campus security professionals, and administrators. And while security technology choices are plentiful, many colleges and universities are operating with limited dollars and information needed to select and integrate life-saving tools effectively. In this article, the authors consider the complications associated with technology selection and implementation and propose best practices to guide campus security professionals in their future efforts to deploy and use technologies as effectively as possible. Finally, they discuss how technology can be leveraged to increase collaboration with law enforcement and emergency responders during emergencies.
