There is considerable interest in many sectors of society in trauma intervention. School yard bullying has been getting a lot of attention as of late. It is widely reported and analyzed repeatedly in the media. As a clinical psychologist and adjunct psychology professor for over 30 years, the author has had occasion to see bullying in many forms from preschoolers to seniors. Society seems determined to eradicate bullying. However, this is futile. As therapists, the author suggests that it would be useful to consider some science and common sense in relation to bullying. In this article, the author talks about an affective bullying-trauma intervention technique. He contends that it is time for a new approach to traumas like bullying, one that reflects new insights not just from psychology, education and sociology but also from other sciences including physics, chemistry and biology.
