From "'What' to 'How'"... and Back: Reflections on Be(com)ing a Catholic Liberal Arts College in the Light of Bernard Lonergan
Ries, John C.
Current Issues in Catholic Higher Education, v25 n2 p157-168 Sum 2006
Recent faculty seminars and discussions prompted me to reread pertinent works of Bernard Lonergan and reflect upon the "Catholic" and "liberal arts" here at Carroll College. I have sought to (re)examine these not merely as "whats" to be defined, but as a dynamic or "how" to be exercised. Based on this "re-framing," I hope to see more clearly how "Catholic" and "liberal arts" are both at work here at the College--indeed at be(com)ing College--and are integrally consonant. I also hope to show how such a dynamic can be at work, deepened, and make an important difference in the classroom.
