Science in Drama: Using Television Programmes to Teach Concepts and Techniques

By using a specific episode of the popular television cartoon series "The Simpsons," a range of techniques can be communicated, including microscope setup and use, simple chemical analysis, observation, and interpretation. Knowledge of blood groups and typing, morphological comparison of hair samples, fingerprint analysis, and DNA fingerprinting are covered. Potential for covering literacy, numeracy, and other outcomes are also discussed. (Contains 1 box and 2 online resources.)
