Evaluating the Policies that Lead to Substantial Tuition Variation at Public Land-Grant Universities
Burgess, Brent
Planning for Higher Education, v39 n2 p25-33 Jan-Mar 2011
The aim of this study is to evaluate the current state of, and the causes for, the substantial variation in the tuition rates of America's land-grant universities. This aim was pursued with the objective of trying to identify consistent and revealing policies and external characteristics related to the high level of variation that exists among these tuition rates. Further, in light of the global inflation of tuition rates, it is hoped that this study will isolate the basis for these increases and eventually indirectly suggest some best practices for institutions and states to possibly emulate.
