Engaging Critically with Scientific Evidence
Tolson, Siobhan
Primary Science, n119 p27-29 Sep 2011
Working with evidence is a fundamental part of scientific enquiry. Children should be taught to consider evidence and evaluate it. They should make simple comparisons, comparing what happened with what they expected to happen, and try to explain what happened through drawing on their knowledge and understanding. In this article, the author considers how to support 7-year-olds in working critically with evidence. (Contains 3 figures and 2 boxes.)
