This paper describes a general education course that begins with proportion and logarithms (base 10), and that culminates in students' reading and presenting recent frontier research from a variety of disciplines. The theme of the course is that many disciplines use relative size to explain apparently unrelated phenomena. We provide a course overview, some specific examples, and an extensive annotated bibliography. (Contains 1 figure and 1 footnote.)
