This column features summaries of five research articles relevant to school crisis response. The first, "High School Teachers' Experiences With Suicidal Students," summarized by Robyn Bratica, offers the results of a study examining high school teachers' experiences with suicidal students and suggests that contact with suicidal students is very common. The second report, "Early Adversity and Later Development of PTSD," summarized by Sunny Windingstad, looks at an animal study of the effects of early adversity on later PTSD symptoms. The third, "PTSD Among Children Exposed to War," summarized by Stacey Rice, examines the effects of war on the development of PTSD. The fourth, "Safe Start Demonstration Project," summarized by Cathy Paine, describes effective strategies from the Safe Start Demonstration Project. Finally, the fifth report, "Helping Relief Workers," summarized by Stacey Rice, explores psychosocial responses of relief workers following natural disasters.
