An Analysis of the Writing Disposition of Fourth and Fifth Grade Elementary School Pupils

The objective of this study is the evaluation of the writing disposition of fourth and fifth grade pupils from the perspective of different variables using the Writing Dispositions Scale developed by Piazza and Siebert (2008) and adopted into Turkish by Iseri and Unal (2010). The working group for this study is made up of fourth and fifth grade pupils in elementary schools in central Nigde province. Within this context, an analysis was conducted using 2315 data gathered from these pupils that are being taught in 25 elementary schools. According to the Scale adopted by Iseri and Unal (2010), the explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses are made up of three categories: passion, confidence and persistence. In conclusion, it can be stated that the writing disposition of fourth and fifth grade elementary school pupils was favorable, that the writing disposition of girl pupils compared to boy pupils was more favorable and that writing disposition level varied among the schools in question.
