Decent Leadership
Denton, D. Keith
International Journal of Learning and Change, v4 n4 p355-364 2010
95% of people surveyed say honesty and integrity are extremely important or very important in being a good leader. That there has been a continuing erosion of trust across numerous business sectors in this country. Nearly 70% of the surveyed respondents said, "I don't know whom to trust anymore", and said they will "hold business to a higher standard in their behavior and communications". Peter Drucker has said that managers must be guided by the "do no harm" principle as their first responsibility. Recent research clearly shows that virtuous leadership has the most significant effect on subordinate gratitude and repayment to the leader, and on customer appeal. So, how do you become a decent leader?
