Unlocking the Power of Situational Interest in Physical Education
Subramaniam, Prithwi Raj
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (JOPERD), v81 n7 p38-41, 49 Sep 2010
Situational interest plays an important role in student engagement and learning, and it can be used to motivate disengaged students in physical education. Situational interest is evoked through the manipulation or modification of the learning environment, learning climate, task presentation, or structure of the learning experiences. An interesting learning environment has the potential to influence individual interest. The purpose of this article is to highlight the importance of situational interest and provide practical suggestions for evoking situational interest in physical education. (Contains 1 table.)
