Culture of Collaboration
McCombs, Brenda
Learning & Leading with Technology, v38 n3 p10-13 Nov 2010
This article discusses how one school system achieved districtwide technology integration through an ongoing professional development (PD) program that encouraged its teachers to learn and lead together. In an effort to prepare students of Kannapolis (North Carolina) City Schools for success in the 21st century, the author, together with three principals, implemented a strategic plan that began with a dynamic professional development program for teachers and administrators that would ultimately lead to unprecedented collaboration among both staff and students. As the teachers engage in this new 21st century style of collaboration, they have become better educators collectively, and their students have enthusiastically met the new instructional challenges that were given to them.
