A Concentration Training Approach for the Movement Professional
Mack, Mick
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v23 n2 p22-24 Nov-Dec 2009
Recent studies have shown that the learner's focus of attention is an important factor that influences motor skill learning. Furthermore, the ability to concentrate has been deemed one of the most important keys to effective sport performance and is essential to performing one's best. Other experts have concluded that concentration is indeed a skill and thus can be taught using appropriate instruction and training. Unfortunately, although critical to motor performance, many teachers and coaches fail to properly teach and/or train their students how and what to concentrate on. This article provides a brief overview of an approach designed to teach concentration skills.
