History Education in the Primary Schools of Lesotho
Ntabeni, Mary N.
Education 3-13, v38 n3 p225-232 Aug 2010
This study is an overview of the chequered nature of history education in Lesotho primary schools. It highlights the nineteenth century missionary-led, humble beginnings and goals of formal education, which did not change much during almost a century of British colonial rule. The thrust of the study is that Lesotho primary schools currently teach history as a concentrated component of Social Studies at Standard 6, which is illustrated with a few examples and a brief analysis of learners' work.
