Leading Schools with Reverence
Rud, A. G.; Garrison, Jim
Educational Forum, v74 n2 p143-157 2010
Reverence--generally defined along narrow, sectarian religious lines--is often missing from current conversation about educational leadership. This article seeks to recover and scrutinize reverence to see what value it has for educational leadership. Several examples from preschool through Grade 12 leadership situations are discussed to show how reverence is present or absent in the work of the educational leader and discuss reverence in rituals and ceremonies that unite schools.
