International Adult Education: A Personal Reflection from Australia
Morris, Roger K.
Adult Learning, v16 n1-2 p6-7 Win 2005-Spr 2005
The author was born during the Second World War, in Sydney, Australia, and was educated in public schools and at a state teachers' college, largely during the 1950s. He began his working life as an elementary school teacher in the early 1960s, and entered higher education as a lecturer at a small teachers' college in the early 1970s. He retired from paid employment at the University of Technology, Sydney, as an associate professor in adult education at the end of 2005. As the author looks back over his life, he realizes that the one enduring theme that runs like a thread through his professional life is a strong interest in international adult education. Over the past 30-plus years, the author has engaged in a range of activities of an international nature. In this article, the author reflects on his numerous significant international adult education encounters.
