Education is an amazingly rewarding career, and the author cannot imagine doing anything else. He stresses that being able to influence so many lives is a reward beyond compare. Teachers can make a profound difference in the future of this nation and the world, and they should respect what an exalted and exhilarating honor that is. They are privileged to be teachers and leaders in a process that transforms lives, changes communities, and influences future generations. In this article, the author presents some epigrammatic statements of his perspective on a variety of educational issues, based on the word T.E.A.C.H.E.R., as follows: (1) Trust the Human Spirit; (2) Eliminate Unnecessary Committee Work; (3) Accept Responsibility and Act Responsibly; (4) Care About Students; (5) Have Fun and Enjoy Being an Educator; (6) Exhibit Occasional Fallibility; and (7) Respect This Profession.
