Flexibility in Faculty Careers
Bataille, Gretchen M.
Presidency, v13 n1 p20-24 Win 2010
In this article, the author asserts that a one-size-fits-all approach to hiring and retaining faculty members is no longer acceptable. She argues that the key to successful economic recovery is adapting to the needs of a new generation of faculty while still addressing those of current professors. Universities have the means and creativity to find ways to respond to the economic pressures while providing job satisfaction for their faculty. Ultimately, the purpose and obligation of universities is to teach each new generation of college students and fulfill the demands of the marketplace.
