Serious Games
de Freitas, Sara
Adults Learning, v20 n7 p26-27 Mar 2009
For many people, the story about a couple who divorced after "virtual affairs" in Second Life may have been their first introduction to virtual worlds. And that's unfortunate, because Serious Virtual Worlds--interactive environments, usually made up of 3D graphics, which can be explored by many users at the same time--have the potential to help tutors transform lessons from straight knowledge acquisition to practical engagement, role plays and social interaction in realistic settings. The number and range of virtual worlds is growing exponentially. The author explains why adult educators should be interested.
