Principals are often overwhelmed by the sheer amount of data they have and are unsure how to use the information. When the authors talk about "data," they mean all the information principals have or might collect that can support their work with teachers to make their school more rigorous. The authors believe that data can guide decision making, measure success, and monitor accountability. In this article, the authors suggest a four-step approach to using data to support principals' efforts to improve the rigor of their school. (Contains 1 figure.)
