Are You Closing a School Library?
Library Media Connection, v28 n3 p30-32 Nov-Dec 2009
Closing a school library is not like switching out a broken computer with a working computer unit. Nor is it like moving a classroom of desks from one building to another. The collection is a wealth of information that is built and maintained to support the curriculum and student interests. It is a collection of categorized knowledge that must be analyzed to best suit the needs of the students and their counterparts. This article discusses the process of closing a school library and the importance of planning how to do it by involving an experienced school librarian, director, or lead librarian in the decision making process.
