Thurlow, Richard
Computers in the Schools, v26 n4 p290-298 2009
Teaching pre-literacy skills to young children is an important educational goal that potentially can be assisted through the use of computer technologies. Preschool teachers and parents also want to help foster independent work on technological skills. Educational Web sites are being developed that might be useful in meeting both goals; however, there are important issues that must be addressed when evaluating such usefulness. Such issues are described in this article, and examples are given of Web sites that show great potential as well as some that could give children difficulty.
