In this article, the authors reflect on a very different form of ITT assessment--"patchwork text"--wherein the learner provides several small pieces of work, or "patches", which are "stitched" together with a reflective commentary, written once all of the patches are complete. Each piece of work should stand alone, but be connected by a common theme. The "patchwork" form of assessment allows engagement at an individual level. No two pieces of work will be the same because no two people are the same. It stimulates self-expression and is enhanced by an individual's learning style. (Contains 2 figures.)
