How Alumni Narratives of Intercultural Competence Can Inform the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning of Intercultural Communication
Dillon, Randy K.
Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, v8 n3 p36-49 Oct 2008
Through email correspondence and interviews with former students the author explores how the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning can serve as a way to reflect upon philosophy and pedagogy in an intercultural communication course. Key lessons of intercultural competence from former students and how these lessons have impacted their professional and or personal lives are shared. The essay includes an assessment of how issues of diversity and intercultural competence from former students can be implemented in the classroom. Questions that draw from the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning that challenge and sustain teaching and learning are posed. (Contains 2 footnotes.)
