Implementing Organic Education: An Interview with Hugh Osborn
Morrison, James L.; Osborn, Hugh
Innovate: Journal of Online Education, v2 n2 Dec 2005-Jan 2006
Editor-in-chief James Morrison talks with organic education proponent Hugh Osborn at the 2005 World Future Society conference. The current school system in America is inflexible and not conducive to technological innovation; a complete reform of American education, Osborn feels, is required. Osborn calls for a move to organic education, a bottom-up approach to education that forces the transformation of education as we know it. Osborn goes beyond simply advocating a new approach. He also points to organic projects such as the Bright IDEA program that have had remarkable successes and provides us with numerous methods and resources for transforming the educational landscape in ways that blaze new paths for innovation and learning.
