Designing e-Portfolios to Support Professional Teacher Preparation

Tu Tran, Robert Baker, and Margo Pensavalle present e-portfolio technology as an effective tool in teacher preparation. Because e-portfolios chronicle students' learning outcomes, they provide a picture of students' development that can be used in response to increased demands for assessment of student teachers and increasingly standards-based education. Tran, Baker, and Pensavalle provide strategies for creating e-portfolios using Blackboard and for analyzing the results with database applications and support query functions. The resulting documentation can be used not only to assess an individual's growth but also to assess the efficacy of the course of study. (Contains 3 exhibits and 11 figures.)
