Macroscopic Aspects of Gross Motor Control: A Test of the End-State Comfort Effect
Lam, Melanie; McFee, Kristen; Chua, Romeo; Weeks, Daniel J.
Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, v77 n3 p396-400 Sep 2006
The purpose of the present study was to extend the scope of "macro" action constraints by examining a gross motor task that required participants to lift a large object with two hands and place it on one of two designated targets. Participants were thirteen undergraduate students from Simon Fraser University. Results of the study suggest that posture-based movement planning can also extend to encompass the motion planning of whole-body movements as well as limb movements. (Contains 3 figures and 1 note.)
