How You Can Help Students Who Are Homeless
Curriculum Review, v48 n9 p6 May 2009
Many schools are struggling with high numbers of homeless students. Some research has suggested that homeless students are often experiencing exhaustion, hunger, stress, abuse and insecurity, making socialization and learning more difficult for them than it is for their peers. This paper discusses three easy ways school professionals can help and advocate for these students' needs: (1) Address stigmas; (2) Have clean clothes available; and (3) Provide information on public services.
